Colin O'Malley (He/Him)
Rapid Response Team Captain
Colin O’Malley joined March For Our Lives San Diego in May of 2020 due to an increased desire to make a difference in America. Gun Violence is an incredibly important issue for him and he felt joining MFOL SD would allow him to begin to help his community fight it in all its forms.
He was initially a member of the policy committee working to write briefs on ballot measures and candidates. He also participated in the “Yes on Measure B” campaign done through MFOL SD by writing and editing a presentation on a particular section of the Measure.
Colin was appointed the Captain of the Rapid Response Team near the end of August 2020. This new pilot program within MFOL SD aims to serve the local community by supporting the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of gun violence survivors in the county. The Rapid Response Team has since secured a partnership with Survivor’s Empowered, a national Rapid Response group, and aims to make connections with local elected officials, local public safety departments, and the media to establish ground work to go into communities quickly. Additionally, he is a part of the Center for Gun Policy and Research aiming to work with elected officials in San Diego County on Safe Storage.
